MonaLisa Touch® - modern laser therapy to restore your vaginal health

When estrogen levels sink after menopause, symptoms and problems in the vaginal area can occur. And they often do. Millions of women experience discomfort in their vaginal health during that time. The symptoms are often not only physical, but also psychological. Many women silently deal with vulvo-vaginal atrophy, dyspareunia (pain during intercourse), dysuria (pain while urinating), as well as frequent infections of the urinary tract. Quality of life can be greatly affected by these problems. Not much could be done for those symptoms in the past, but not anymore. There is something you can do that actually works: The MonaLisa Touch®

The MonaLisa Touch® uses a unique vaginal probe that sends impulses to the vaginal wall tissue. The treatment is very gentle on the tissue. The energy of the laser effectively aims toward the atrophic vaginal mucosa and therefore causes the tissue to reinstate the tissue’s metabolism and neocollagenesis. This leads to vascularization as well as an increased production of elastin and collagen, which then contributes to improving vaginal lubrication.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MonaLisa Touch®?

The MonaLisa Touch® is a gentle treatment method for vulvo-vaginal
atrophy and other intimate symptoms that typically occur after big
hormonal changes (e.g., menopause, pregnancy). It is a fractional laser
using a vaginal probe that sends focused pulses of light to the vaginal
tissue to revitalize cells and to therefore increase the production of
collagen and elastin. This also increases blood flow to the area as well as
lubrication. There is also a probe for the vulva which can be used to
treat symptoms specifically in this area*.

* Please note that not all patients are candidates for this kind of
treatment and that results cannot be guaranteed. Whether your
condition is eligible for the treatment will be evaluated in consultation
with one of our doctors.

Is MonaLisa Touch® the right choice for me?

Many women face changes in their body due to lowered estrogen levels
after menopause. This can significantly influence their quality of life.
MonaLisa Touch® can treat the following symptoms:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Vaginal burning
  • Vaginal stinging
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Painful urination
  • Lichen sclerosus
  • Vulvodynia

MonaLisa Touch® is a treatment option for women during menopause, as well as patients who suffer from post-menopausal symptoms after a hysterectomy, hormonal imbalance after breast cancer treatment or to avoid estrogen treatment.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment in general requires no anesthesia and is practically pain free. In case of the vulva being the area of treatment, your doctor will probably apply a numbing cream to be absolutely safe.

How many sessions are necessary?

For treatment of the vagina, an average of 3 sessions (5-10 minutes each) is required. For treatment of the vulva, 5 sessions are recommended. There should be about 6 weeks between each session. Depending on the underlying condition, another treatment every 6 or 12 months after completion can be very beneficial. You will receive your personal plan of treatment at our office.

Is there anything I cannot do after a treatment session?

You can go back to your everyday life right away. Intercourse, hot baths or saunas should be avoided for about 3 days to prevent infection. Your doctor will give you specific individual instructions.

What are the costs of the treatment?

It would be best is you contacted us to get your personal cost estimate, specifically for your condition. Some insurance plans cover the treatment.

Can I have this treatment if I had breast cancer?

Yes, you can. It is even specifically designed for women who want to avoid estrogen therapy.

You can arrange uncomplicated consultation and treatment appointments in our branch on 0981/13131. Please feel free to contact us.
